IHC Premier M817 L&N Class D-0 "Modern" American 4-4-0 Locomotive #7
A natural evolution of the original 4-4-0 American "General" style locomotive, this 4-4-0 "Modern" American locomotive itself evolved into the hard working 2-6-0 Mogul and the magnificent and fast 4-4-2 Atlantic. In terms of total number of years in service, the long and distinguished career of the American 4-4-0 class of steam locomotive was surpassed by no other single locomotive type. This MRRHQ Collectible HO Scale IHC Premier M803 Southern "Modern" American 4-4-0 Locomotive represents a locomotive that could have seen service from 1870-1920 with many still in use as late as 1950. Well suited as a fast passenger locomotive the "Modern" 4-4-0 American would have been seen at the head of many Railroad's crack Limiteds.
The L&N was never a great purveyor of the Modern 4-4-0. In fact, they had only one: Class D-0 #7 built by Baldwin in 1916. Of course, the L&N is a popular road name and, with research and information costly and time consuming, IHC simply slapped random #108 on this great loco. To that I say "nay, nay" and re-lettered this great little loco to the proper #7 making it one-of-a-kind only available from MRRHQ. You're welcome.
