Late 1800's V&TRR Mixed Passenger/Freight Set w/"Super" Bowker 2-4-0 Locomotive, Super Detailed Consist & Super DCC/Sound
The Virginia and Truckee Railroad is one of the most famous short lines in American history. The Virginia & Truckee No. 21 named J.W. Bowker is a 2-4-0 steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1875 for the Virginia and Truckee Railroad and named after Virginia & Truckee's master mechanic John William Bowker. Our incredible VTRRSET1 depicts a mixed passenger/freight train as it might have appeared in the era of the Comstock Load. Both the V&TRR and the J.W. Bowker are well documented in print and on the Internet.
Now, why do we say "Super" Bowker 2-4-0 Locomotive you ask? The "Bowker" was produced by several manufacturers for AHM. Only the original Bowker, build by Pocher in 1972, featured brass, instead of plastic, domes, brass, instead of plastic, steam cylinders, brass, instead of painted, boiler banding, and gold or silver plated plastic compressor assemblies. Our "Super" Bowker has all of these rare features, our exclusive AcuGlow working headlamp (a working Headlamp was NEVER available on any Bowker), an Engineer Figure installed in the cab AND awesome DCC/Sound. "Super" indeed.
