STUNNING Upgraded IHC Premier M9857 DL&W Class 12a Semi-Streamlined 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive #1136

The DL&W had a total of Six "Semi-Streamlined" or "Streamstyled" locomotives. The term "streamstyled" is often used to denote "semi-streamlined" or somewhat less than full streamlining. There were four streamstyled 4-6-2 Pacifics numbered 1115, 1117, 1123 and 1136, one 4-6-0 numbered 1011 and one 4-4-0 numbered 1011.

The 6 locomotives above all had similar "wings" streamlining but the four Pacifics are the most well known, with their dramatic black & chrome (stainless steel) "wings" though Number 1123 is quite famous for being colorized. Though it’s green and red coloring was not "official", the story goes she was sneaked into the Elmira roundhouse and painted by the roundhouse crew without management knowledge or consent. She then appeared on a railfan excursion, and was an instant hit so management decided to "let it go". Number 1123 was the only one so colorized. The other three Pacifics remained in their Black & Stainless Steel colors.

The shrouding was removed gradually in the early 40's, and was gone by 1943.
The locomotives ran out the rest of their careers without the shrouds, being retired and scrapped by the late 40's.

With eye-catching black and silver coloration and dramatic "wings" this is one of the most beautiful model locomotives ever offered.
