IHC Command XXV 23417 WM 2-10-2 Santa Fe Locomotive #1129

The USRA Heavy and Light Santa Fe 2-10-2’s were USRA standard classes of steam locomotives designed under the control of the United States Railroad Administration, the nationalized railroad system in the United States during World War I. These locomotives were of the 2-10-2 wheel arrangement in the Whyte notation, or 1′E1′ in UIC classification. This arrangement was commonly named "Santa Fe" in the United States. At the time, the Santa Fe was the largest non-articulated type in common use, primarily in slow drag freight duty in ore or coal service.

*The Western Maryland, however, didn’t roster a single 2-10-2. They did, however, roster 10 Class I-1 2-10-0 Decapods, road numbers 1101-1110, and 20 Class I-2 Decapods with road numbers 1111-1130. Mostly built by Baldwin between 1918 and 1927, the WM Decapods were some of the most successful of their type. For those sticklers of historical accuracy, simply remove the trailing truck of this magnificent IHC Command XXV 23417 WM 2-10-2 #1129, reattach the drawbar and, presto, you'll have a correct WM 2-10-0 Decapod. All will be well with the world.
